About Us
NRG Cycles is all about family and friends. Every person who you deal with in the store is a family member or a cycling friend who has grown around the NRG Cycles retail environment.
Gav started with the Ipswich Bicycle Centre over 18 years ago and then expanded into Curragundi Rd, Jindalee as Centenary Cycles. After a number of years with both sites, Gav decided to consolidate both stores under the one roof in Jindalee. 6 more years were spent in the current Homemaker centre across the road before the move in 2009 to the Superstore’s current site at 28a Goggs Rd, Jindalee.
Along this 18 year journey Gav has taken his parents along for the ride (pardon the pun) with dad Merv becoming passionate about bio-mechanics and being pivotal in that role of personalised bike fitting for the rider.
Merv and Gav, along with other team members are skilled at the full body fitting process and also perform coaching. Effectively they share a love of cycling and the retail arm is an adjunct to their lifestyle choice of cycling.
Their aim is to have cycling available and accessible to everyone with every form of cycling covered from extreme competition to social and family riding.
NRG Cycles with Avanti Bikes sponsor many cycling activities including the Santos Tour Down Under; Ipswich 100 Lions Ride and the Redland Bay Lions Ride. They are also actively involved with the Avanti Classic Road Race Handicap event held in the Logan district.
We have helped to acheive, through our products we sell, our five year plan for promoting the sport through the Avanti and Scott brands, having an Australian and New Zealand team ready for the Tour de France.
